The 5th edition of the renowned Nendaz Backcountry Invitational brought together some of the best freeride athletes to compete in an epic, ever-changing back-country setting. With a 30-day weather window to select the perfect day, the organizing committee of the Nendaz Freeride Association waited until D-5, when a major storm delivered heavy snowfall to the venue.
In the race against time, expert shapers crafted a stunning, ephemeral course—complete with hand-sculpted takeoffs, booters, a striking The North Face dome tent, and even a rail. Riders were invited at the last minute once the event was confirmed, and this year, 12 men and 6 women took on the challenging ski competition.
