Apurvi Chandela will be representing India in the 10m air rifle event. By winning the gold medal at the 2019 ISSF World cup, she secured a quota to participate in the Tokyo Olympics. After competing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, this will be her second Olympic appearance.

Elavenil Valarivan will be representing India in two events, women’s 10m air rifle and 10m air rifle mixed team event. She is currently ranked number one in the Tokyo Olympics ranking and is ranked number 12 in the world according to 2021 rankings.
The 21-years-old is the only shooter in the Indian contingent who has got the Olympic slot without winning a quota. The young shooter was rewarded by the federation for her consistent performance.

Tokyo Olympics 2021 India Shooting LIVE – 10 Meter Women Air Rifle LIVE: Why India can expect medals from Apurvi Chandela & Elavenil?
Chandela has won two gold medals at World Cup 2019. She is competing in her second Olympics after Rio. She has a rich experience of navigating the tensions at the world’s biggest stage. Meanwhile, Elavenil is a 21-year-old shooter who is trained by Olympic medalist Gagan Narang. They will be looking to make it to the top eight from among 49-shooters in the qualification fray.
Apurvi also holds the finals world record in the event with a score of 252.9 to her name.
The finals are a 24-shot affair with the eighth-place being decided after 12-shots and one shooter being eliminated after every two shots thereafter, till the winner is decided after the 23rdand 24thsingle shots. The field is without the Rio Olympics medallists and therefore will have a new Olympic Champion.

Tokyo Olympics 2021 India Shooting LIVE – 10 Meter Men’s Air Pistol LIVE: India’s medal prospect Saurabh Chaudhary is ranked 2nd in the world and he is a Youth Olympics champion. He became the youngest Indian shooter to win gold at the 2018 Asian Games at 16.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Verma has also won a bronze at the Asian Games.
The qualification round here is scored in full rings as opposed to decimals in the Air Rifle competition, and a score of 580 is considered the bare minimum to reach the finals of World-class competitions.
