Mother-Daughter Bike Adventure: Exploring Wilderness Lands of Pennsylvania

‘We’ve got gravel!’ This film highlights all the joys of route planning, exploring, and bikepacking in a new place — all through the lens of a mother-daughter team.

Directed and edited by mother-daughter duo Emily and Willow Zebel, “The Mysteries of St. Anthony’s” takes place in Stony Valley, just north of Harrisburg, Pa.

Originally called Saint Anthony’s Wilderness, Stony Valley is part of the second-largest roadless wilderness tract of land in Pennsylvania.

“After recently moving to the area, Emily and her daughter, Willow, venture out to explore their new backyard, and uncover some of the valley’s hidden gems along the way,” teased Kitsbow. (“The Mysteries of St. Anthony’s” won one of Kitsbow’s 36 Hours grants this year.)

The duo’s 33-mile route follows and intersects old railroad tracks, historic sites, Stony Creek crossings, and even the Appalachian Trail. There’s bikepacking, yes, but also singing, fishing, and child’s play too.
