Felino and Barbaro Cavernario took center stage in the hair versus hair main event. The match was supposed to take place at last year’s event, however, the dreaded COVID pandemic squashed that notion. All the extra time forced the feud to fester.

A super powerbomb from Felino and a springboard splash from Cavernario were close pinfalls. Both men traded stretching submissions to build drama. In the end, Cavernario slammed Felino to the mat then tied him up in a ball. Cavernario sat on top waiting for Felino to submit. That he did, and a haircut was given.

Check out the highlights and the finish for yourself.

The semi-main witnessed the final of La Copa Independencia tournament. Volador Jr. and Gran Guerrero won torneo cibernéticos to meet at this point. Gran Guerrero pulled out all the stops, such as pressing Kemonito on top of Volador. The fisticuffs veered toward the stage for Volador to connect on a flying crossbody from high above. Kemonito got payback on a flying splash to Gran Guerrero. Volador took the best Gran Guerrero had to offer and pulled out the victory via Mexican Destroyer.

Mistico, Euforia, & Hechicero defeated Ultimo Guerrero, Atlantis Jr., & Negro Casas in the middle bout. Reminder that the original Mistico (aka OG Sin Cara) left the Carisctico character to go back under the Mistico mask when Mistico Muñoz exited CMLL to galavant as free agent Dralistico on the lucha libre scene with brothers Rush and Dragon Lee as well as father Bestia del Ring.

The third fall was a mixed bag with referee gullibility. Negro Casas distracted the referee, so Ultimo Guerrero could pull off Euforia’s mask for a roll-up by Atlantis Jr. That played into the bad blood between Ultimo Guerrero and Euforia. Mistico evened the numbers with a whirling armbar on Atlantis Jr. Ultimo Guerrero had Hechicero tied up in a submission, but Euforia came back to complain about his mask to the referee. Hechicero took advantage of the referee distraction by taking a flop accusing Ultimo Guerrero of a low blow. The referee looked to the crowd for guidance and took the bait to award the victory to Mistico, Euforia, & Hechicero.

Luchadora trios action saw Marcela, Stephanie Vaquer, & Dark Silueta earn the third fall victory over Dalys, Lluvia, & Jarochita. Marcela took out Dalys with a double underhook backbreaker outside the ring. A fisherman’s suplex and a backcracker caused the winning pins from Vaquer and Silueta.

The opener involved Volador’s new posse. Earlier in the week, Magnus and Rugido were revealed to join Magia Blanca and Diamond in the unit. More surprises are on the way, such as that tall fellow on the right side.

At Homenaje a Dos Leyendas, Magia Blanca, Diamond, & Magnus prevailed over El Coyote, Sangre Imperial, & Disturbio. Volador’s youngsters won the third fall via super fireman’s carry driver.

During the show, Salvador Lutteroth and Sangre Chicana were honored. Lutteroth was the founder of the promotion. Sangre Chicana has held the world trios, national middleweight, and national tag team titles in CMLL as well as the NWA International Junior Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Middleweight Championship. He also won the AAA Americas Heavyweight Championship. Sangre Chicana lost his mask to Fishman at the 44th Anniversary in 1977.

CMLL is jumping back in the saddle with big show action next week for the 88th Anniversary event with a night of champions. Title matches will be up and down the card. The advertised lineup includes:

  • Mexican National Women’s Tag Team Championship: Lluvia & Jarochita vs. Dark Silueta & Reyna Isis
  • Mexican National Tag Team Championship: Rey Cometa & Espiritu Negro vs. Akuma & Espanto Jr.
  • CMLL World Heavyweight Championship: Ultimo Guerrero vs. Hechicero
  • CMLL World Tag Team Championship: Volador Jr. & Titan vs. Los Gemelos Diablos I & II
  • Mexican National Middleweight Championship: Templario vs. Dragon Rojo Jr.
