BIRMINGHAM, AL – Two hundred and thirty-nine athletes, coaches and other officials with ties to current Southeastern Conference schools will compete in the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo, Japan.
All fourteen member schools will be represented at the Games by 217 current and former student-athletes in competition.
Florida leads with 31 individuals, Georgia claims 28 Olympic representatives, followed by 25 from Texas A&M, LSU with 23, 22 from Alabama, 19 from Kentucky, Tennessee with 16, Auburn with 15, Arkansas with 12, South Carolina with 10, Mississippi State with six, Ole Miss with five and three from Missouri and Vanderbilt.A total of 99 athletes with SEC ties will compete in track & field with 64 in swimming & diving. In total, 12 sports will have athletes from SEC institutions with 58 countries represented.
Eighty-two athletes from the SEC will represent the United States, Trinidad & Tobago has 13, Jamaica has 11 and Canada with 10 delegates.
In addition, 12 current members of SEC coaching staffs will participate in the Games with four current volunteer coaches competing. There are also nine former student-athletes participating in other capacities.
