Queensland Health has reversed its infamous ‘balcony ban’ effective immediately, allowing NRL families in the quarantine hotel to catch some fresh air.
After they were initially forced to gaffer tape their balcony doors shut following a breach of public health orders on day one of the isolation period, NRL families will now be able to venture out onto their balconies.

The reversal of the ban comes just days after Wests Tigers star James Roberts was hit with a one-match ban and a $7,500 fine after he was spotted on his own balcony while in hard lockdown.
According to Nine’s NRL reporter Danny Weidler, Queensland Health has accepted the NRL’s sanctions handed down to Roberts.
The decision comes after Roberts’ coach Michael Maguire admitted that the 28-year-old had been left “shattered” by the league’s ruling.
“He was shattered, shattered to think this was a topic,” Maguire told reporters.
“He’s really disappointed that this happened and understands he’s just got to work through it now.”
It remains to be seen whether the reversal of the balcony ban means the sanctions originally handed down to Roberts for his breach at the time are also retracted.
