It’s back! parkrun top 10 with Michelle Pearson and Adam Fogg running the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (24th July).
What a year Adam Fogg is having so far and this could be the cherry on the top so far… maybe not. The U23 has been over at Drake University in the USA and has posted a PB for every distance he has run, now including parkrun too.
14:29 was the only time under 15 minutes this week, but having already run 13:58.48 in April, three sub four minute miles and a host of wins, Fogg is an exciting runner to watch going forward.
We remember having a good old search of the Google and Power of 10 the first time Michelle Pearson popped up in first place in these rankings, but no need these time. Like Fogg, the speedy triathlete has already been clocking up the 2021 PBs.
Starting with a 16:23 for 5k in April, Pearson then ran 34:46 for 10k and 74:44 for half-marathon. She’s not the only triathlete in the rankings too, if you can spot some others who might even be Kona-bound.
Seyfu stays in the top 10 again
parkrun and top 10 regular Seyfu Jamaal showed both improvement and consistency by being in the last top 10 from last year (and saving us some additional typing), but also jumping up one spot in the weekly rankings and running nine seconds quicker too.
The London Heathside youngster recently broke 4 minutes for 1500m for the first time when finishing second in the Southern Athletics League at Lee Valley.
British international cross-country runner Pippa Woolven hasn’t clocked any results on Power of 10 during the COVID pandemic, but storms back into action with 17:16 at Black Park parkrun, good enough for second this weekend. Great to see Woolven back on a start line.
Similarly it’s a first run of 2021 for Jessica Gibbon of Reading AC. Hot on the back of a 10k PB of 35:55 last year at Goring 10k (which, having run there myself, I can say is not a fast 10k), it might be time to run at a non Goring based 10k.
All of Gibbon’s previous 10k marks have been at the picturesque event and this weekend’s 17:19 Higginson parkrun, Marlow, shows a new PB could be just around the corner.
Everyone pick a parkrun
It seems everyone is getting used to solo time trials as each member of the rankings is from a different event. So no parkrun is the fastest this week. Maybe all the fast people decided to organise beforehand so social distancing could be kept at the front end of the run?
