Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh is off to the final of the 400-metre freestyle event at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 14-year-old set a Canadian Olympic record with a time of 4:02.72 in the third heat which was the fifth-fastest of the day. The previous record was held by Brittany MacLean who posted a 4:03:43.

McIntosh is one of Canada’s youngest athletes competing in Tokyo and the daughter of Jill Horstead, who swam for Canada in the 1984 Olympic Games. She edged Oleksiak in the 200-metre freestyle final of the Olympic qualifier to earn a spot on the team.
