The big boards have been filled out. The mock drafts have been finalized. It’s finally time to put the Pistons on the clock.
Detroit will kick off the 2021 NBA Draft after winning the lottery drawing back in June. The Pistons are widely expected to select Oklahoma State star Cade Cunningham, who has shown the kind of scoring and playmaking skills all NBA teams covet.
If Cunningham does land at No. 1 overall, then Jalen Green and Evan Mobley will likely go to the Rockets and Cavaliers, respectively, to round out the top three. However, trades can’t be ruled out, even near the top of the draft. Some front offices may be looking to move up, and others could choose to package their picks in order to acquire a veteran player. It only takes one deal to take the draft from calm to chaos.
Sporting News will be tracking the full list of NBA Draft selections. Follow along here for the latest updates from Thursday night’s event.
