Big news out of Buffalo has arrived with the Bills releasing former star Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm.
Jake Fromm’s day donning a Buffalo Bills jersey have come to a close. After a standout career with Georgia, Fromm left school early and was selected by the Bills in the 2020 NFL Draft in the fifth round. With the incredible emergence of Josh Allen, though, Fromm didn’t see any action last year.
Moving forward, Fromm simply had no spot on the 53-man roster, especially with the team signing veteran signal-caller Mitchell Trubisky to be Allen’s backup this offseason.
Jake Fromm has officially been released by the Buffalo Bills
Plain and simple, Trubisky is the better option to serve as Allen’s No. 2. He’s got plenty of experience and while he didn’t live up to the hype as a first-round pick, he’s miles ahead of Fromm here. Folks on Twitter are reacting to the Fromm news left and right, with some mixed emotions being showcased.
The Buffalo Bills will regret releasing Jake Fromm. The man is in his second year of Pro-Football. He’s just getting used to that level. Somebody pick him up and help him. Preferably Dallas, Washington, or LA (Rams). #Travesty #NFLTwitter

Nothing but respect for Jake Fromm but why this dude decided to go pro when he still had a year left I will never understand. https://t.co/cmHdaf97vX

Hmmm. I remember Kirby “not so” smart pick jake Fromm over Justin fields. Stupidest decision in UGA history. https://t.co/colN6y7Lof

Buffalo cut Jake Fromm. Bears should cut Foles and bring him in as our #3

Are you serious!! Jake Fromm is perfect for backup next year! Also he will be cheap on rookie deal. He will be pick up quick by another team. Makes no sense!!!!

Now, it’s tough to see what the future holds for Fromm. With the regular season less than two weeks away, he’d have to try and land with a new team and learn the playbook in quick fashion. A lot of teams have their starters and No. 2 signal-callers figured out. Assuming a team doesn’t have three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, this makes things quite complicated for Fromm.
With that said, he could make his way to a practice squad and try to work his way back up that way. Unfortunately, the decision to leave school early keeps looking worse and worse for Fromm, as he’s now got to wait for the phone to ring in hopes that a team will give him a shot.
