MANILA, Philippines—Filipino swimmer Remedy Rule failed to advance to the semifinals of the women’s 100-meter butterfly in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Saturday at Tokyo Aquatics Center.

Rule finished with a time of 59.68 seconds in the heats but it wasn’t enough to put her into the penultimate round of the competition with only the top 16 swimmers qualifying to the semifinals.

The 24-year-old from University of Texas placed 25th out of the 33 swimmers in the heats.

China’s Zhang Yufei placed and Australia’s Emma McKeon finished first in the heats with the two swimmers finishing with a time of 55.82 seconds in Heat 5.

Rule, a Philippine record holder in 100m butterfly, competes again in the 200m fly event next week.
