The Wallabies and All Blacks will play the third Bledisloe Cup game in Perth – eight days later than originally planned.
The match was postponed after New Zealand went into lockdown due to the coronavirus and decided against travelling until the rest of the Rugby Championship fixtures were confirmed.
It created an ugly few days after the Wallabies were left in limbo in Perth and accusations flying across the ditch.
However, that appears to be water under the bridge now that the Rugby Championship fixtures signed off on with Queensland to host the bulk of the tournament.
The third Bledisloe Cup game will be played on Sunday September 5 at 2pm local time which is 4pm for the east coast of Australia and 6pm in New Zealand.
Rugby Australia’s preference was to play the game on Saturday night but AFL have first use of Optus Stadium should it choose to host a final and therefore Sunday was the best option to lock in.
Ticket holders who purchased tickets for the Test match scheduled for Saturday, 28 August at Optus Stadium will have their tickets automatically transferred to the match on Sunday, 5 September and those who can’t make it are entitled to a refund.
“From speaking with the Wallabies team, they are desperate to put on a great show for the Perth community – and confirming this Test is great news for them and the fans in Western Australia,” Rugby Australia CEO Andy Marinos said.
“It’s fantastic on all fronts to have the opportunity for the Wallabies to play at this iconic stadium again, and entertain the Perth public that have embraced them so warmly over the past two weeks.”
The All Blacks have already won the Bledisloe Cup but the match is crucial to both team’s Rugby Championship hopes.
