Aaron Rodgers: Blowout loss ‘a good learning lesson’

Green Bay Packers quarterback and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers famously told worried fans to “R-E-L-A-X” one September years ago.

Rodgers could’ve gone that same route during a Tuesday appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” that occurred roughly 48 hours after Green Bay suffered a humiliating 38-3 loss at the hands of the New Orleans Saints.

While he didn’t use those exact words, the 37-year-old made it clear he’s already turning the page and focusing on the upcoming “Monday Night Football” showdown with the Detroit Lions.

“It might be a freak out outside the facility,” Rodgers explained, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “I think it’s just a good learning lesson for us. We can’t play like that. We can’t start a game like that. Like I said after the game, our energy level was a little bit low before the game. We have to do a better job responding to adversity. There’s not much to say. We got our a–es beat by 35 points. We’re all frustrated about it, but just move on. We have 16 more to go.”

Rodgers declared last month he doesn’t want the season to become “a farewell tour” amid reports he could orchestrate his exit from the Packers following the campaign, but that’s exactly what the year’s final months could become if Green Bay doesn’t begin turning things around next Monday. Fortunately for Rodgers and company, Detroit and the other two NFC North teams also dropped their season openers, so the Packers haven’t yet lost any ground in the division standings.
