Suzuki and Toffoli Media Fun
Nick Suzuki and Tyler Toffoli were in Toronto as part of the NHL/NHLPA media tour assisting with the video content bank for NHL broadcasts this season.
It’s a quick stop before the two head to Montreal for next week’s training camp.Toffoli Speaks About the Offer Sheet
While in Toronto, Tyler Toffoli offered his take on the Hurricanes successful $6.1 million offer sheet to former Canadiens centre Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
“I thought this whole situation had been weird,” said the 29-year-old speaking to the Canadian Press. “This whole situation has been strange.”
“Things are what they are […] You’re not going to turn down six million,” said Toffoli. “It’s unfortunate, but we have to move on.”
But the Habs winger recognized that the Hurricanes got the attention they were looking for heading into the season with the hostile offer. “People who don’t follow hockey have noticed,” said Toffoli. “For a week, everyone was talking about hockey.”
Nick Suzuki chimed in saying, “I was happy for him. Tough offer to turn down, obviously. But tough seeing him go, (we) wish him the best. It’ll be fun to play against him.”

Beloved Canadian
Sadly Quebec City native Norm Macdonald died on Tuesday at the age of 61 due to a 10-year long battle with brain cancer. Macdonald was widely recognized as one of the very best stand-up comedians, known for being a cast member of SNL for five seasons.
Macdonald actively tweeted about sports and was a particularly passionate fan about the Montreal Canadiens.
It was a historic night and my only regret was not being there live. But I was glued to my tv and was thrilled to be watching my heroes move on. Hard to believe its been 28 years. The best is yet to come. Congratulations to the greatest ever, the mighty Montreal Canadiens!
